The
Institute was established with the prime objective of promoting
Indian Numismatic Studies. Working towards this objective,
it aims at:

Creating a research resource centre for
Indian Numismatics where the research students can have
an unhindered access to the basic research material,
i.e. coins from different collections and other research
material.

Building up a most exhaustive library
of Indian Numismatics and other allied subjects of Indology.

Conducting various short-term training
programmes in Indian Numismatics for museum and archaeology
personnel, students, coin collectors etc.

Creating awareness about the importance
of coins for our history among the students and general
public through courses, museum display and publications.

Providing assistance to the Museums in
the preparation of their coin catalogues.

Carrying out research in Numismatics
and allied subjects at the Institute.

Helping coin collectors in identification,
decipherment of their coins.

Organizing meets, conferences, workshops
on various relevant topics of Indian Numismatics.

Publishing journals, newsletters, monographs
on Indian Numismatics and so on.
